Hungry for Him
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness....
Matthew 5:6a
When you're hungry, what do you reach for? The most common foods we crave are ice cream, pizza, and cake--with chocolate topping the list of flavors. Unfortunately, sometimes we eat with our eyes and out of habit instead of waiting to be truly hungry. But if we're restricting the amount of food we eat to lose weight, or we've skipped a meal due to a tight schedule, the all too familiar grumbling is no fun.
In the spiritual realm, however, God says it's good to feel hungry for His Word. During Israel's disobedience to the Mosaic Covenant, Samuel obediently proclaimed the Word (1 Samuel 3:19). Slowly the Israelites' hearts grew hungry for renewed fellowship with the Lord, and God was brought back to the center of His nation. Key to the ignition of revival is a hunger for the presence of God in our lives.
Is your soul grumbling for the Word of the Lord? Do you truly hunger to understand His will for your life and to grow in knowledge and truth? Don't just snack, feast on His Word!
GOD LOVES YOU NO MATTER WHAT!
